Disney food on the lips, several pounds on the hips

2011 06 - DW castle 1 Yes, we did the family trip to the big D last week.  My parents treated us and the kids and we all had a blast!  It was not a relaxing vacation, to say the least, but it was all worthwhile to see the joy and excitement on the kids’ faces.  However, I was not overjoyed at the food prospects.  Amusement park food is, shall we say, not the most health friendly.  I pictured pigging out on ice cream, funnel cake, cotton candy and other sugary goodness the whole week we were there.  Fortunately (in a weird sort of way), it was hot as Hades so I ended up “snacking” on water almost the entire week.  Either that or I just sweat out all the extra pounds of sugar.  But I was relieved to find the scale didn’t move at all from before we left. 

What do you do to stay healthy on vacation?

Days after the vacation is over, I am still pouring over the pictures and trying to relive the magical moments (Disney is the most magical place on earth, isn’t it??).  But rather than bore you with our family album of photos, which are most likely duplicates of pictures you have with your own family members, I thought I’d share some funny pictures that came off our camera. 

One thing I sometimes think about, is how many pictures I end up in from other people’s cameras…you know, like in the background, or ones I accidentally walked through.  Like check out this picture:

The guy in the pink shirt is NOT a part of our family, and from the look on his face, I don’t think he wants to be!  After all, he probably thinks the only thing we ever do is catch flies in our mouths.

This one just shows what a ham I am for the camera.  I’m the only one looking at the camera:

I’ve always told my husband he catches the most unflattering pictures of me.  Case in point:

2011 06 - DW eyes closed We were at a breakfast buffet, so despite the picture I was actually very happy.  Especially when we had to wave our napkins like a cowboy to celebrate Mickey:

As a kid, my absolute favorite character was tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff, Winnie-the-Pooh.  And apparently Disney makes you a kid all over again.

The funny thing about this picture is yes, I know Winnie is a fictional character and I just hugged a complete human stranger.  Disney does strange things to adults.

Besides being caught off guard in pictures, one of the most common photo bummers is closed eyes or red eyes.

2011 06 - DW toy story mania potato headOut of everyone, why is it Mr. Potatohead who has his eyes closed??  Now that takes a good cameraman to capture a fake character with his eyes closed…that cameraman would be me.

We recently went on vacation to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and had an amazing time! I wrote up a recap in case anyone is looking for more information or just wants to live vicariously through my blog post. 😆 I am so grateful for the time spent with my family and I am glad we were able to make this trip happen. If anyone is in the market for a natural deodorant If anyone is in the market for a natural deodorant, I have one for you to try. My requirements for a natural deodorant aren’t that picky…it should be made with clean ingredients, go on smooth, smell good, not irritate and actually work! My last brand started irritating me for some reason (formula change maybe?) so I went on the hunt for something different. This @primallypure deodorant is one I’ve been using for about a year now and it checks all the boxes. I love it! The scents I've tried are geranium, lemongrass and blue tansy (more of a masculine fragrance imo). My husband likes the charcoal one. That’s some good-looking bone broth! 🍗 Last n That’s some good-looking bone broth! 🍗 Last night I roasted a whole chicken for dinner and instead of throwing out the bones, I put them in the slow cooker overnight to make some bone broth. Perfect timing since there’s a cold going around our house!

Some benefits of homemade bone broth:
✨High in nutrients such as calcium, magnesium and potassium.
✨Heals the gut.
✨Protects joints and strengthens bones.
✨Improves the immune system.

Recipes may vary but here is what I put in  mine:

✔️1 whole chicken carcass in slow cooker with enough water to cover
✔️2 tsp salt
✔️1 onion, quartered
✔️Fresh herbs (I had thyme on hand)
✔️1 Tbs apple cider vinegar (important to draw out the minerals)

Slow cook on low for 24 hours. Add salt and pepper to taste. 
Strain into containers and store in fridge for up to 5 days.
