Mama, Mamarazzi

Self Care

We are the crowd,
We’re coming out,
Got my flash on, it’s true
Need that picture of you.
–Lady Gaga, Paparazzi

Forget the paparazzi, I was part of the mamarazzi this weekend!  After a long day of walking 26.2 miles for the Avon Walk, we came back to our hotel, which happened to be where the White House Correspondent’s dinner was being held.  Coincidence?  Well, last year it was, but this year we kinda, sorta planned it that way.  :-)  Last year the official Avon Walk hotel was the same hotel at which the White House Correspondent’s  dinner was held.  This year, Avon changed the location (probably because of the crazy Step Sisters last year flashing their cameras in all the stars’ faces and yelling, “Bon Jovi we love you!”).  But a few of the crazy Step Sisters came back for round two and ditched the official Avon Walk hotel for the official “celebrity hotel”.

Here’s more information on the 2011 White House Correspondent’s dinner if you’re interested, but who cares because the important question is, who did we see??  We did not see Mr. President, although it was pretty cool to watch the speech from the hotel lobby knowing the big man himself was in the ballroom below us.  Also, these pictures are not all-inclusive since some Step Sisters saw other celebrities I didn’t see, or my camera just didn’t take the picture fast enough.

Some others that were there but either escaped the mamarazzi or snuck in another entrance were Donald Trump, Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet (my favorite show, by the way), Sean Penn and Scarlett Johansson, Cee Lo Green (“I see you driving ‘round town with the girl I love, and I’m like, forget you”….you know that song is now going to be stuck in your head all day), Matthew Morrison and Anna Paquin, just to name a few.

It was definitely an exciting end to the day.  My favorite part was when these 3 little boys, probably about 10 years old, came running up to their dad telling him they were going to get to meet Cee Lo Green (dad was probably thinking, “see who?”) and then two of the boys proceeded to jump up and do a chest bump.  So cute!  But the night ended quickly as I drifted off to sleep waiting in one of the lobby chairs to get one last look as the celebrities left.  All of a sudden it wasn’t so exciting anymore and all I wanted was a pillow and to rest my tired legs.  So I passed off my camera to a fellow Step Sister and called it a night (so technically I didn’t see Shaun White live, in the flesh, but my camera did).

Here’s a video our fearless leader and team captain, Liz, captured of some of the celebrities coming in.  I don’t know who all those crazy ladies are doing all the hootin’ and hollerin’ in the background, ahem….

I was telling some friends last night about my usu I was telling some friends last night about my usual breakfast, why I make it every day (makes meal tracking easier) and how I boost the protein (1-2 egg whites depending on my mood), and it inspired me to make a reel. 🤷🏻‍♀️
✅Add steel cut quick oats & water, measured based on package directions, to a large bowl big enough to allow for expansion during cooking (I’ve made a very messy mistake before!)
✅Add 1 or 2 egg whites
✅Whisk to break up the egg whites, unless you REALLY like large chunks of eggs in your oatmeal 😬
✅Add a dash of salt, optional
✅Microwave according to directions
✅Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a splash of maple syrup
Other add-ins: berries, bananas, honey, protein powder

Made with 2 egg whites, this packs a ~13.5g protein punch. When I combine with my collagen protein powder in my coffee, I’m at ~30g protein for breakfast! 💪🏼

I use @myfitnesspal to track so I can either pre-fill my breakfast all week. Or just copy from day to day. Easy peasy!

So I did this thing. I became a Beautycounter Bran So I did this thing. I became a Beautycounter Brand Advocate. Mainly I did it because I was already finding a lot of products I liked, and becoming a consultant offered some perks to support my habit! 🤷🏻‍♀️ But also the more I dug into the brand, the more I realized how in line it was with the lifestyle I’m trying to live. The clean ratings for the Beautycounter line is always high (check out EWG) so I feel good about using it on my skin. BUT I’m not a salesperson, I don’t ever want my friends to feel pressured to buy anything I’m “selling”, and I really don’t have time to wear another hat in my life 😜. So if you happen to discover the line on your own and are interested in buying a product or 2 to try, send me a message or go to my page at beautycounter.com/angelafuentes. But otherwise, my plan is to not do much promoting. I’ll just be here if you need me ☺️.

Even though skin cancer is the most common cancer Even though skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., it is also one of the most preventable. Take these steps to lower your risk:
☀️Seek shade, especially during the hours of 10am-4pm when the sun is the strongest.
☀️Use physical barriers to protect your skin (clothing, hats, umbrellas, sunglasses).
☀️Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen, SPF 15 or more, every day. Apply 1 ounce to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside, and reapply every 2 hours or after swimming or sweating.
☀️Swipe to see 2 of my favorite sunscreen brands, @supergoop and @beautycounter . Supergoop has an EWG rating of 2 ✅ and Beautycounter is EWG Verified (highest rating)✅.

☀️Stay healthy! 🕶️
