Chocolate Protein Brownies

If I had to choose between savory or sweet for the rest of my life, I’d choose sweet, hands down. So if I can find a way to make a sweet treat a little more macro-friendly, I’m going to try it!

These chocolate protein brownies come in at just under 150 calories but each piece has almost 8g of protein. A traditional brownie is usually an extra 100 calories and half the protein.

If you like a rich, moist, fudge-y brownie, I wouldn’t bother with this recipe. The almond flour and protein powder give it a much drier, cake-like texture. Adding more eggs, oil or yogurt would moisten them up, but would compromise the calorie count. So for me, this is the perfect balance of sweet yet macro-friendly. Unfortunately these are not allergy-friendly since they are made with almond flour. Because of that, I only make these when my kids aren’t home. Regular flour can be used, but it changes the nutritional value. So while this isn’t like the traditional brownie you’ve come to know and love, where it lacks in richness and gooeyness, it makes up for in nutritional value. And it satisfies my sweet tooth craving!
