Fish Fridays: Tuna Steaks with Hot Chile Pepper Sauce

Tuna Steak with Hot Chile Pepper Sauce

This is one of my favorite fish recipes.  My dad fixed this recipe for our family a few summers back and it’s been one of our regular menu items ever since.  It takes about 20 minutes from fridge to plate to make .  The chile pepper sauce is a dipping sauce so can be omitted for those who may not like spicy foods.

Tuna Steaks with Hot Chile Pepper Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 fresh jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp dijon-style mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tuna steaks
  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • ground red pepper

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl combine mayonnaise, jalapeno pepper, mustard, and lemon juice.  Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve
  2. Preheat grill to medium heat
  3. Rinse fish, pat dry with paper towels. Combine oil and red pepper; brush half of the oil mixture over both sides of fish
  4. Place fish on greased grill rack over heat for 8 to 12 minutes (until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork)  Brush with remaining oil mixture halfway through grilling
  5. Serve fish with hot chile pepper sauce
